Muddy at Horgi Ned

Spectators in the rain
Due to lack of snow, this year’s triathlon became a duathlon consisting of downhill biking and downhill kayaking. The downhill skiing that should kick off the competition from the top will have to wait for a new chance next year.

The police stood stand by holding traffic as the contestants came mud sprayed through the woods from the bike race, crossing the road to get to the river and the kayaks.

Spectators and friends cheered the competitors along during the switch, and more spectators stood alongside the river running parallel to the road watching the white water kayaking.

Winner Joar Wæhle

Joar Wæhle from Voss scored a hat trick as he yet again won the competition, the third year in a row. As Horgi Ned has it`s third birthday this year, he is also the only winning contestant of the competition.

The heavy rainfall that hit Voss tonight and kept on going through the day, made the downhill bike slope hard to race in, according to the winner.

– It didn’t feel like a winning race as I fell a lot on the bike, he says. – But as it appears, so did everyone else.
