Opening ceremony
We are proud to announce that young representatives from the work of KolibriCARF in Brazil will be in charge of the official opening show!
We promise a spectacular cultural show with performances of acrobatic dance, capoeira and afrobreak, surrounded by colours, lights and sound. Dancers from KolibriCARF Brazil will do the opening show together with young dancers from Norway. One of their tools is to use performance art as a global connector between people. If we are lucky there will also be some Brazilian percussionists. Do not miss this unique Norwegian-Brazilian performance!
When: Sunday 26th of June, 7 pm
Where: Festival Tent
CARF and Ekstremsportveko
Kolibri – Children At Risk Foundation (KolibriCARF) is official partner to Ekstremsportveko. KolibriCARF works with children and adolescents at risk in the favelas of São Paulo, Brazil – poor areas where crime and drugs flourish, and where many children end up on the street.
KolibriCARF runs four activity centres for children between the age of 5 and 18. Through the use of local arts, sports and culture, we want the children to develop knowledge and self-confidence, and to find their own identity - in order to break out of the downward spiral and make a better future for themselves.
During Ekstremsportveko, friendly battles of honour and glory will take place in controlled, risky environments. The contestants choose to expose themselves to risks and dangers. The kids of Sao Paulo cannot choose – they grow up facing extreme risk, in harsh, unfriendly environments. The danger is part of everyday life.
Together, Ekstremsportveko and KolibriCARF will contribute to give these children a public voice, and a chance to opt out of their risky environments by providing them with new role models, other interests and more opportunities than they otherwise would have had.
You can join us in this effort by supporting Kolibri – Children At Risk Foundation.
